I created the rihanna vs new order mash up, (wowowillie1 who has the most views for this video merely downloaded it and represented it as his own)...my view is that Rihanna didn't rip off the song at all, the chord progressions are similar but a million songs have the same progressions...I made this for a bit of fun NOT to try and point out some 'rip off' from Rihanna's part

not a rip off.

Rihanna definitely sampled "Blue Monday" from New Order when she was making this song. The beat is the exact same. But what is wrong with that? Rap music has always "borrowed" music by sampling. This is nothing new, but it is an excellent choice for Rihanna, in my opinion. I love New Order.

Yes the chord progressions are similar in a million songs, but what makes this song a rip off of Blue Monday is the MELODY, which is exactly the same in the verses of both songs.

But Rihanna doesn't write her own songs anyway, so blame her song-writing team

i can't believe people are even posing the question. yes, this is a 1:1 rip of "blue monday" by new order. both artists are published through universal music group so getting clearance really getting the publisher to agree with themselves. do you think it's about artistic integrity at all anymore? no, it's about $$$$$$. why pay to obtain new works-for-hire from musicians when you can just rip existing ones?
