The Rad Report Best Albums of 2008

The Rad Report Best Albums of 2008

Blender
is out with their "33 best albums of 2008" list and, while we don't think it's particularly appropriate to rip on other peoples musical taste, these guys suck. Since lists are cool we're going to talk about it, and then make our own. So here's their list first:

  1. Lil' Wayne, Tha Carter III
  2. Girl Talk, Feed The Animals
  3. TV On The Radio, Dear Science
  4. Metallica, Death Magnetic
  5. Hot Chip, Made In The Dark
  6. Robyn, Robyn
  7. Of Montreal, Skeletal Lamping
  8. Randy Newman, Harps & Angels
  9. Vampire Weekend, Vampire Weekend
  10. Fall Out Boy, Folie A Deux
  11. Death Cab For Cutie, Narrow Stairs
  12. My Morning Jacket, Evil Urges
  13. Al Green, Lay It Down
  14. Jenny Lewis, Acid Tongue
  15. Bon Iver, For Emma, Forever Ago
  16. Be Your Own Pet, Get Awkward
  17. Conor Oberst, Conor Oberst
  18. Ponytail, Ice Cream Spiritual
  19. Katy Perry, One Of The Boys
  20. Wale, Mixtape About Nothing
  21. Erykah Badu, New Amerykah Part I: Fourth World War
  22. Coldplay, Viva La Vida
  23. The Cool Kids, Bake Sale
  24. The Roots, Rising Down
  25. Santogold, Santogold
  26. Usher, Here I Stand
  27. Mariah Carey, E=MC2
  28. Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Real Emotional Trash
  29. Raphael Saadiq, The Way I See It
  30. Young Jeezy, The Recession
  31. Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!
  32. Taylor Swift, Fearless
  33. Hayes Carll, Trouble In Mind

Who the fucks Hayes Caril or Steven Malkmus??? Anyways, so there wasn't 33 good albums made this year. Who knows why they picked that number. But here's are list:

  1. Kings of Leon - Only by the Night
  2. MGMT - Oracular Spectacular

And that's pretty much it. Sorry! If you're making a best of list that shit has to be good. The whole album has to be killer. Otherwise you're just adding dumb crap onto something for no reason. (ps we're still really confused on the new Guns n' Roses album and the new Killers album. But they might make it. And I'm sure there's a few others we're forgetting.)

Anyone who doesn't know who Steven Malkmus is need not write about music. Do your homework child.

Eddie, it is pretty good. Exactly what socially conscious soul should be. Not thoughtless.

Dear, Anonymous.. Who the hell is Steven Malkmus??? Is this an advertisement? .. And make sure you spell it right too, in other words DO YOUR HOMEWORK. On that rather unknown artist's myspace he spells it as StePHen Malkmus. Don't embarrass yourself like that.

I actually copied the spelling from your post, which has now been updated. Regardless, he was the singer of a pretty excellent and influential band called Pavement. If you haven't heard Slanted & Enchanted you would do well to find it. It tops any of the albums on this list by a considerable margin.

There's no way Conor Oberst "sucks." And Stephen Malkmus is common knowledge.

Have you heard Conor's song "I don't want to die (in the hospital)"? Listen to it, then get serious and check out this blog post: http://www.stophospitalinfections.org/2008/11/i_dont_want_to_die_in_the_...
