'All The News That's Fit To Print' goes Jersey punk

The New York Times has used their fine writing and reporting to make a nice profile piece on The Gaslight Anthem. Singer Brian Fallon discusses a bit of the band's history, and the evolution of G.A. songwriting over the years.

In large part Mr. Fallon also abandoned the characters that he’d been hiding his personal stories behind in his songs. “On the earlier records that was my way of keeping a distance between me and me,” he said. “You’re sending someone else out to the firing squad when you have a character.” On this record he sounds more comfortable with “I” then ever before.

New song from Chris Shiflett & The Dead Peasants

New song from Chris Shiflett & The Dead Peasants

You might know guitarist Chris Shiflett from the Bay Area punk band No Use For A Name, or that other band he's in called The Foo Fighters. But now he's going solo with an Americana album that is really nice to listen to. The release calls the new songs "infectious Americana-laced rock, that are "some of the best he's penned."

"I wrote 'Get Along' about moving out to NYC and having an old friendship fall apart.  It made me want to run back to California (which I ultimately did).  It's fitting that I name-check Jesse Malin's [D-Generation] bar Niagara in it, and now we're out on tour with him."

Download 'Get Along' right here.

"What Song Was That?" 'Suzie' by AB & The Sea

"What Song Was That?" 'Suzie' by AB & The Sea

AB & The Sea is a fantastic band based in San Francisco by way of Wisconsin. A couple of the guys moved out to the coast a little while back and began making a name for themselves at local clubs, filling venues like The Independent and Slims. Fans of The Beach Boys, The Shins, Death Cab, will find a friend in The Sea.

Their single 'Suzie' just happens to be part of a five song EP you can download from AB & The Sea website, right now.

Wake up in make up: Advice from Courtney Love

The Courtney Love 'Behind the Music' premieres this week and the producers have released a short video on what to expect.

The Hole singer talks about heroin, kids, Kurt, and Trent Reznor: "Don't call your band Nine Inch Nails if you've got a three inch one. My band is called Hole. It's not called Little Hole. It's not called Big Hole. It's not called Flapping Noni. It's not called Teeny Rose Bud. It's not called Barbie Pussy. It's called Hole."

Against Me! does Daytrotter

Against Me! does Daytrotter

The raw music site Daytrotter has an original four song collection by Against Me! available for download on their site. Tom and friends recorded a couple songs off the new album as well as two covers (from the Dead Kennedys and Cock Sparrer). And you get to see and nice painted portrait of Gabel singing.

It's all here.
