Take a Babyshambles bass player and a Strokes guitar player and you get a band called Helsinki

The Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond, Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnell have and Scottish punk band The View have formed a band called Helsinki.

The project started with the guys playing music to kill time and have fun with friends, according to McConnell. But the music was good and now they're releasing an album later this year: "We've now cut 10 studio tracks and plan to record two more and release a Helsinki record before the end of the year."

Here's their first video for their first single, Ribtickling, starring bassist McConnell.

Babyshambles And The Who Play Lovely Music For Cancer

Last night Pete Doherty's Babyshambles and Roger Daltry of The Who put on a fabulous concert to raise money for a cancer charity. They're set list included loads of 'Babyshambles' songs, 'The Who' songs, and a bunch of Johnny Cash covers! I've spent my morning reliving the concert thanks to so some enthusiastic YouTube member who posted pretty much every song.

Here's 'Ring of Fire' and 'Delivery.' But be sure to head over to da tube and check out all the other videos!!

The Drummer Speaks

The Drummer Speaks

Babyshambles is writing a tell-all book about their life and dealing with Peter. But drummer Adam Ficek swears this isn't a Pete Doherty book. Even though they're going to bitch off on how they had to handle him and Kate Moss:

"There's a lot of stuff regarding him and Kate's relationship, there's a lot of stuff regarding his view on the no-shows, his view on drugs, his view on the arrests and persecution, relationships with band members."

"But the good thing about it is, it's not a Peter book. It's a book from our perspective as well, about how it affects us."

Well good thing! The last thing I want to read is a book on Pete's sex, drugs and rock 'n roll with the top supermodel. I wanna read about the drummers shit!
