Iggy Pop shows David Letterman's crowd what he's made of

Last night (6/22) Iggy Pop and Fatboy Slim guest starred on David Letterman's show. Iggy fronted Fatboy's alias band known as the Brighton Port Authority. So it's a guest singer on a alias band of a guy with a fake name. Get it? The song they performed and pranced to is called 'He's Frank.'

Iggy Pop is releasing a French jazz album and one song is about a poodle

Iggy Pop has recorded a song called 'King of the Dogs' about a playful little white doggy.  And unlike Iggy's punk songs - like say 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' - King of the Dogs is a French jazz song, on a French jazz album.

Iggy made a little promotional video for the album, which is based on a French novel called 'La Possibilite D'une lle', or 'The Possibility Of An Island'. Iggy says he was inspired to record his jazz album because he "got sick of listening to idiot thugs with guitars banging out crappy music, and I started listening to a lot of New Orleans era... type of jazz." Iggy even sings one song in French.

King of the Dogs is a song about Iggy's favorite character in the book - "a little white dog named fox". The lyrics in King of the Dogs are sung from Fox's point of view: "Fox tells you just how cool it is to be a dog, and how much it beats human life."

I've heard King of the Dogs and it's pretty funny. I sort of like Fox. He's a fun little guy who thinks he's the coolest dog that has ever walked on four little feet. But I'm being careful not to get too attached. Only because of what Iggy says: "And probably the saddest song [on the album] is when Fox dies."

Listen to King of the Dogs at the end of the video.

Iggy Pop Is An Auto Insurance Spokesperson

Iggy Pop's tour van was stolen earlier this year, and every one of the band's priceless guitars went missing forever. I don't know if that's the reason Iggy decided to become spokesperson for Swiftcover auto insurance, but it's kinda funny.

So which mascot is better: Iggy pop, or the Geico gecko?
